Dear Rick,

I wanted to take a quick moment to let you know how big a difference pro-life people like you've made, ministering to fathers who come into our affiliated pregnancy centers. They're considering abortion and you can help them choose life! Dads like Mario*.

Mario told his fatherhood mentor that he grew up in a home with a drug-addicted mom and workaholic dad. Eventually, he ended up living just with his father. While his dad instilled work ethics in him, he always felt their relationship was disconnected. When Mario came to his local pregnancy center, he and his girlfriend, Sofia*, had only recently found out they would be having a baby. But he wanted to learn to be the kind of dad he didn't have. He wanted to build a family and be in his baby's life.

He has been plugged in ever since.

Mario enrolled in his center's Doctor Dad program and dove right in. It was obvious he wanted to learn as much as he possibly could to be the best father he could be and to support his family.

Mario and Sofia got married and had their beautiful baby boy. His mentor said, "You can tell by the way he [Mario] talks and plays with his son that all he has is love to give him... He is not only a great father but an inspiration to the rest of the dads in our program."

Thanks to pro-life people like you, Care Net's Fatherhood Program prepared nineteen Care Net-affiliated pregnancy centers to transform the lives of thousands of dads like Mario.

The results: 42% more men in those communities were served than before!

So far this year, more than 4,200 fathers have been served by the participating pregnancy centers.

Of those:

2,300 were there to support the mother for pregnancy test appointments
More than 2,300 men participated in ultrasound appointments with the mother of their baby
More than 750 men have participated in the Doctor Dad parenting program, and of those over 40% have graduated
Many were connected to a local church for ongoing support and discipleship

Now you're probably thinking: "Well, that's nice, but what's the big deal? I mean, isn't the decision to choose life really up to the mother?"

The father of the baby plays a bigger role in a woman's decision to choose life… or abortion... than you might expect.

Over the last few years, Care Net conducted two national surveys — one of 1,500 women who had abortions and one of 1,000 men whose partners had abortions.

In those surveys, both women and men agreed: when deciding whether or not to abort their baby, the father of their baby was the MOST influential voice.

Dads matter.

They matter a LOT.

This is why engaging fathers during pregnancy and challenging them to care for their partner and child is so important.

This year Care Net's network of affiliated pregnancy centers served more dads in local communities than ever before. The generosity of people like you helped ensure these dads and the mothers of their babies didn't end up in an abortion clinic.

As fantastic as that is, many pregnancy centers still don't have a fatherhood program yet. Those centers could be reaching more dads in their communities to make sure more women facing unplanned pregnancies have the support they need from the fathers of their babies to help them choose life.
