AI rendition of Shroud of Turin depicts long-haired, goateed face of Jesus

From writing sermons to creating a “rapping Jesus,” the advent of the era of artificial intelligence (AI) is clearly upon us. But what happens when AI meets an artifact that purportedly captures the face of Jesus?

The Shroud of Turin, a relic made public in the 14th century that some claim to be the burial cloth used cloth in the now-empty tomb of Jesus of Nazareth, has inspired a new AI-generated rendition of the face of the Son of God.

The image generated on the AI website Midjourney depicts a middle-aged man with light skin, long, dark, wavy hair parted down the middle and full facial hair, including a goatee. In the image, the man’s eyes are open and a portion of his bare neck and upper chest are visible.

While mainstream AI technology is still relatively new, it’s not the first time the shroud’s image has been reinterpreted for a new generation.

I Hear His Whisper..."I am true wisdom."

I Hear His Whisper...
I am true wisdom.

Do not be intimidated by those who consider themselves to be wise, for they are fools. Those who scorn my wisdom will be seen as pretenders who must forsake their ways. I offer them a drink of the pure waters of truth and wisdom, if only they will come into my sanctuary.

Many times, you have backed down from those who seem to be wise, but now I call you to speak with my words of truth, wisdom, and love. Right now, with you here in my presence, I will reveal myself to you as true wisdom. My ways and thoughts will be understood as you yield to my Spirit. I will teach you with knowledge that comes from eternity. I will give you the secrets stored up for those who fear me and delight in me. Wisdom from above will enter your heart, and a deep fountain of truth will be opened inside of you. You will be amazed by what I reveal to you and how I use you in the coming days. Sit with me. Listen to my voice. Know my heart, and your heart will be filled with my words.
1 Corinthians 1:24–25
The Passion Translation

For those who have been chosen to follow him, both Jews and Greeks, he is God's mighty power, God's true wisdom, and our Messiah. For the "foolish" things of God have proven to be wiser than human wisdom. And the "feeble" things of God have proven to be far more powerful than any human ability.
