Mercy
The King’s Seat
Alexander the Great once found a private in his army fainting and sick with the cold air around him, and had him carried and seated down in his own royal seat in his tent by a fire. The soldier, coming to his senses, suddenly sprang to his feet amazed and began to apologize. Alexander smiled to the young soldier and said, “Don’t you know that your Macedonians live after another manner under your kings than your enemies the Persians do. For them it is death to sit in the king’s chair; but to you, it became life.” As believers, we have a hope that as our strength fails, Christ reminds us of His care. The world and Satan have an unruly kingdom which to be followed will mean certain separation from God. But to be enlisted in God’s army, is to know the joy of His merciful care for us.
