Even though Jesus wanted a drink of fresh water from the well, he knew he had something even more satisfying to offer the Samaritan woman. Psalm 78:15–16 recounts how God provided for his people in the past: "In the days of desert dryness, he split open the mighty rock…He gave them all they wanted to drink from his living springs." And Psalm 107:35 talks about what God is able to still do: "He also can turn a barren wilderness into an oasis with water! He can make springs flow into desert lands."
The living water of Christ is available to you. You have only to ask for a drink. His presence is satisfying, and he gives all that you want and need. It doesn't matter how desolate your life appears. He can turn the most barren wilderness into an oasis. Drink your fill and return to him as often as you like. He is more than willing to quench your thirst.
Giver of Life, though I can offer you a little, what you offer in return is far better. Thank you for the willingness of your heart to pour out your living water of love into my life. I am yours.
