Kenneth S. Wuest Wuest’s Word Studies from the Greek New Testament

We are now ready to present the detailed outline of the book which is based upon the foregoing historical background and analysis.
I. The New Testament is better than and takes the place of the First Testament because its Founder, the Messiah, is better than (Heb 1:1–8:6).
  1.      The prophets (Heb 1:1–3), since Messiah is
    a.      God the Son (Heb 1: 1-2)
    b.       Heir of all things (Heb 1: 2) p 49
    c.      Creator of the universe (Heb 1:2)
    d.      Outshining of God’s glory (Heb 1:3)
    e.      The expression of the nature or essence of Deity (Heb 1:3)
    f.      The sustainer of the universe He created (Heb 1: 3)
    g.      The Sacrifice that paid for sin (Heb 1: 3)
  2.      The angels (Heb1:4–2:18), since He
    a.      Has a better name, Son (Heb 1:4,5)
    b.      Is worshipped by angels ((Heb 1:6)
    c.      Is Creator and Master of angels (Heb 1:7)
    d.      Has an eternal throne (Heb 1: 8)
    e.      Rules in righteousness (Heb 1: 8)
    f.      Is anointed with the Holy Spirit (Heb 1: 9)
    g.      Is unchangeable (Heb 1: 10–12)
    h.      Is seated at God’s right hand (Heb 1: 13)
    i.      Has ushered in a Testament which displaces theirs (Heb 2:1–4)
      (1)      Warning against letting New Testament truth slip away (Heb 2:1)
      (2)      If rejection of First Testament truth was punished (Heb 2:2) how much more will rejection of New Testament truth be punished (Heb 2:3), which truth was spoken by the Lord who is superior to angels, and which was attested by miracles (Heb 2: 3, 4).
